Nick Saban talks Auburn, Jordan-Hare and Jalen Milroeâs versatility
It’s Iron Bowl week. On Saturday, Alabama football travels to Auburn for a renewal of the state and possibly the nation’s fiercest rivalry, against the Tigers.
As has become custom during Nick Saban’s tenure in Tuscaloosa, there’s a lot riding on the game for the Crimson Tide. Alabama can keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive with a win before an SEC championship game date with Georgia.
To start off the week, Saban is scheduled to meet with local reporters on Monday. The press conference is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CT in Tuscaloosa.

— Saban said Alabama took Chattanooga seriously and got the result it wanted. Said there’s still a lot to improve on.
— Says the Iron Bowl is one of college football’s great rivalries. Says it’s a great opportunity to be able to play in it. Says it will be a tough, physical game every time.
— Praises Hugh Freeze’s first year in charge at Auburn. Says Tiger offense is difficult to prepare for.
— Saban says offensive line is playing better. Says group has made steady improvement due to communication and technical execution. Says group needs to continue to improve.
— Says Jalen Milroe has been effective as both a runner and a passer.
— Says Terrion Arnold has done a good job at cornerback for the Tide. Notes Arnold has had to play multiple positions because of injuries and has handled the challenge well.
— Praises Alabama’s defensive line improvement throughout the season. Notes how important stopping the run will be.
— Discusses relationship with Hugh Freeze. Says it’s possible to compete against opponent without it being possible, keeping positive relationships with opposing coaches.
— Says if Alabama is going to have success at Auburn, it’s going to need to execute. Says focus needs to be on execution and quality of play on the road.
